Seamless Gutters in Jacksonville: What the Price per Foot Buys
Three quotes for seamless gutters on the same house in Baymeadows: $1,650, $2,100 and $2,700. Same square footage, same number of downspouts, all three "seamless aluminum." The homeowner assumes the top one is padding and the bottom one is a deal. Usually it is the reverse, and the difference is written in the line items if the quote has any.
Here is what moves the price per foot, and what to ask each contractor so the quotes line up.
The base: seamless aluminum, $9–$15 a foot installed
That range covers Duval, Clay and St. Johns counties in 2026. It includes the aluminum, the labor to form it on site and hang it, corners, end caps, standard downspouts, and haul-away of the old system. What it does not fix is the six variables below, which is where the $1,000 spread comes from.
The six things that move the price
1. Gauge
Aluminum gutter coil comes in .027 and .032 inch. The thinner stuff is about 15% cheaper and it dents when a ladder leans on it, oil-cans in the afternoon sun, and bends under a wet load of pine straw. The .032 holds its shape. Any quote that does not state the gauge is .027. Ask.
2. Hangers
Spike-and-ferrule hangers are a nail through the gutter into the fascia. They are fast and cheap, and they back out. Hidden hangers are a bracket inside the gutter screwed into the rafter tail, invisible from the ground, and they do not back out. Spacing matters too: every 24 inches is standard, 18 inches on long runs and anywhere the gutter carries a big roof. A crew using spikes every 36 inches is saving about $1 a foot, and that is the gutter that sags in year eight.
3. Downspout size and count
A 2x3 downspout is the default. A 3x4 costs a few dollars more per downspout and moves roughly twice the water. In Jacksonville, where an inch can fall in half an hour, 3x4 should be standard, not an upgrade. Count the downspouts on each quote as well; a 60-foot run with one outlet overflows regardless of what the gutter is made of. One quote with six downspouts and another with four are not the same job. 4. Corners
Every inside and outside corner is a hand-mitered joint, and each one takes 20 to 30 minutes to cut, fit and seal properly. A simple gable house has four. A hip roof in Deerwood with bump-outs and a bay window can have twelve. Corners are why two houses with the same linear footage can differ by $300, and why a per-foot price alone does not tell you much.
5. Fascia
Rotted fascia cannot hold a hanger. A quote written from the driveway does not know whether the fascia is sound. A quote written from a ladder includes a line for fascia replacement at $8–$20 a foot for the boards that need it, or a note saying none do. If a quote has no fascia line and no note, you will find out on install day.
6. Where the house is
East of the Intracoastal, zinc-plated screws and straps corrode in salt air within a few years. Stainless steel fasteners and hangers add $1–$2 a foot, and at Jacksonville Beach, Atlantic Beach or Ponte Vedra they are the difference between a gutter that stays up and one that is hanging after a nor'easter.

The middle quote is a good gutter. The top one is a good gutter sized for the roof. The bottom one is the gutter that was already on the house, installed a second time.
Questions that make quotes comparable
- What gauge is the aluminum?
- Hidden hangers or spikes, and at what spacing?
- Downspout size, and how many?
- Is any run 6-inch, and why or why not?
- Was the fascia checked from a ladder, and is there a per-foot price if any is soft?
- Are extensions and haul-away included?
- Are the fasteners stainless (if you are near the beach)?
- What is the workmanship warranty, separate from the finish warranty?
