What gutters cost in Jacksonville
Most Jacksonville quotes are for a house that has never had gutters, or for beach hardware that failed early. Here is what each of those jobs runs in Duval, Clay and St. Johns in 2026, priced the way we price them. Typical ranges, not a quote.
Start with the house, not the per-foot number
A huge share of Jacksonville homes were built without gutters. Builders from the 1960s through the 1990s skipped them because sand drains, and it does, until 52 inches of rain a year cuts a trench along the drip line and exposes the slab edge. So the typical job here is a first install with a drainage plan, and the price follows the house type.

Every figure is seamless .032 aluminum, 3x4 downspouts, hidden hangers and haul-away. A quote built on .027 coil, 2x3 downspouts or spike hangers will be $2–$3 a foot cheaper, and the first tropical storm will show you why.
The per-foot numbers behind the table
- 5-inch seamless aluminum: $9–$13 per foot installed.
- 6-inch seamless aluminum: $12–$16 per foot; the right call on the big hip roofs in Nocatee and the St. Johns County builder communities.
- Beach surcharge: $1–$2 per foot for stainless hardware east of the Intracoastal. Zinc-plated screws at Atlantic Beach streak rust inside three years.
- Copper half-round: $35–$55 per foot, mostly Riverside and Avondale restorations.
- Underground drain to daylight or a dry well: $300–$900 per run on the flat lots in Mandarin and Middleburg, where an extension across sand just moves the puddle.

Guards and cleaning
Pine straw sells guards here. Screen runs $5–$9 per foot and works under oaks; under longleaf and slash pine only stainless micro-mesh at $10–$18 per foot keeps needles out, cheapest when installed with new gutters. Why two quotes on the same street differ by $1,000
- Corners. A Nocatee hip roof has eight to twelve miters; an Arlington gable ranch has four. Each is labor and a sealed joint.
- Fascia. We probe it before quoting so the number does not grow on install day.
- Height and access. Second stories, pool cages and lanais add 15–25%.
- Hardware. Stainless at the beach, or not.
- Color. White, clay and bronze are on the truck; a Ponte Vedra HOA match can add a week and a coil charge.
- Permit. Florida requires a specialty license for permitted gutter work. A contractor without it prices lower because he is skipping the permit. Ask to see it.
A worked example from Fleming Island
Two-story frame, 230 feet of gutter, six downspouts, hip roof with ten corners, 12 feet of soft fascia over the garage, flat backyard toward a retention pond. Six-inch .032 aluminum with 3x4 downspouts at $14 a foot: $3,220. Fascia at $14: $168. Two buried drains to the pond at $450: $900. Around $4,300, one crew, one day. Skip the drains and it is $3,400; the sand under the back downspouts will tell you within a season whether that was wise.

Is it cheaper to repair or replace gutters?
Repair when the gutters are seamless aluminum, the hangers are sound, and the trouble is one or two corners or a downspout. Replace when they are sectional vinyl or steel, when the beach hardware has rusted through, or when more than a third of the runs sag. On a 150-foot ranch the gap between four repairs and a new system is often under $800, and the new system carries a warranty.
Does homeowners insurance cover gutter damage in Florida?
Sudden damage from wind or a fallen limb, yes; age, rust and clogging, no. The catch is the separate hurricane deductible on most Florida policies, usually 2% of the dwelling value, so on a $350,000 house the first $7,000 of named-storm damage is yours.
